Local enrolment area

Most schools have designated local enrolment areas. The School Finder shows our local enrolment area. Note: local enrolment areas are subject to change.

How to enrol

During the enrolment process, let the principal know of any special circumstances, allergies, health or medical conditions affecting your child.

For more information, visit high school enrolment or contact us to discuss your child’s enrolment.

Download an application to enrol (PDF 579KB).

The application form must be completed in English. However, a translated application to enrol may help you to fill out the form in English.

Temporary visas and international students

For information about eligibility and forms to complete, visit the Temporary Residents Program.

Non-local enrolments

As outlined in the department’s enrolment policy, our school may accept enrolments from outside our local enrolment area if places are available.

We will assess applications for non-local enrolment on a case-by-case basis.

Distance education

Distance education is an equity program for students who are geographically isolated or whose individual circumstances prevent them from regularly attending school. Students must meet one of the conditions in the Distance Education Enrolment Procedures to be eligible to access this program as a full-time student.

Distance education schools also provide single subjects for students in Years 9 to 12 to enhance curriculum choice. Please contact us for details.

For more information about educational opportunities in rural areas, visit Rural and distance education.

Enrolment in Year 8-12

There may be limited places for enrolment in year 8 – 12 depending on current student numbers. Parents wishing to enrol their son in these year groups should first make contact with the administration office.

It is generally not possible to seek enrolment for your son after the commencement of the Preliminary and HSC courses. Any such application will need to be made to the Principal and must have compelling circumstances.

Out of area enrolment

We have received a large number of out of area enquiries for year 7 2020. I anticipate that we will have space and will be accepting out of area enrolments in 2020 but urge parents to apply early in round 1 to avoid missing out. The best way to ensure this is to list Ashfield Boys HS as "Choice 1" on the expression of interest form.

Gifted and talented class

Entry into the GAT class is through application and assessment. Applications for the 2020 GAT class are due by the end of Term 1 (12th April 2019). Parents should complete an application for enrolment through their son's primary school as well as the GAT application form 2020

Boys in Year 6 attending government primary schools:

Year 6 2019 students attending government primary schools were supplied with an expression of interest form for Year 7 2020 by their primary school last week. This form must be completed and returned to the primary school by Friday 15th March 2019.

Boys in year 6 attending non-government primary schools:

Year 6 2019 students enrolled at non-government primary schools may obtain an expression of interest form for year 7 2020 from a local government primary school or our office. Alternatively you can download the form and return it directly to Ashfield Boys High School by Friday 22 March 2019.

The expression of interest form is also available in multiple community languages. To view the form in other languages, visit EOI forms in other languages.
